EDUCATION

Spelling BEE:

This programme is designed for primary school learners from grade 4-6. It provides them with an opportunity to put their skills against one another by applying strategies to help them spell words both familiar and unfamiliar. We will be adding scramble and crosswords puzzles as an exciting factor to the programme.

Vision

To promote value of learning among students, encourage them to strive for excellence in bringing out the full potential of each individual and developing as confident and independent learners

Mission

Create an environment where every child can participate, learn, compete and benefit. Create a challenging and healthy environment to compete that encourages high expectation of success through development which will be beneficial in their real-life situation.

Value:

  • Teaches them the value of hard work
  • Setting goals and meeting challenges
  • Improve their writing skills
  • READ-A-THON:

MFDF Read-A-Thon is an exciting literacy improvement activity dedicated to contributing to the development of life-long literacy skills by enhancing and promoting learner reading in primary schools. The Read-A-Thon is not only limited to reading but also encompasses book discussions and book reviews. We encourage the learners to write their own stories and we invite local authors to share their work.

    Vision

MFDF aims to create a culture of reading in township schools. Pupils experience reading as a pleasure and not as an obligation.

    Mission

This initiative will be achieved by supplying short story books to participating schools in preparing for an annual competition final.

    Value

This will encourage children to devote themselves in literature through reading aloud from different books and amongst their peers. This will widen their spectrum and horizons in their studies and will also stimulate their mental abilities.

    Objectives

To empower learners with good reading techniques like:

  • Clear articulation
  • Correct accentuation.
  • Adequate reading speed.
  • Understanding the content of the book.
  • Create a culture of reading for fun in schools.
  • DEBATING

In 2017 MFDF is introducing Debating; this provides learners with a platform to express themselves verbally in front of an audience by sharing their knowledge and express their views on a particular topic. Debating also develops their critical listening skills and builds their confidence. Debate also allows students to become more skilled in speaking, researching, reading, writing, reasoning and communication. Debate also develops their critical listening skills and builds their confidence.
We will add motivational symposiums around certain topics which they will get an opportunity to present to their peers. These will create awareness to children and motivate conversations around issues.
